This
journey started long ago, how long I know not
It has taken me to valleys indescribable full of sorrow, filled
with misery
I’ve seen mountaintops covered with cool glistening translucent
snow
White, pure enough to eat, melting on the tongue, refreshing to
the throat
I’ve traveled streams, great rivers, and mighty oceans
My ship of love is tattered, and torn from its many voyages
Love is an elusive lady; she can lay wait in every port, and not
be found
She can be around every corner, lurking to be sought, and never
be seen
This journey of love has taken me to the hottest deserts
Stranded me for days without food, without water
Laughed at me as I lay with parched lips, and sun-dried skin
I cried out for it to help me, to pour water on my lips
But it spit in my face, told me no, not today
For love has many personalities, it can take on many shapes,
and forms
Some are kind, gentle, and attentive, while others can be very
distant, cold, and cruel
To find the love you desire can be a life long journey,
Then sometimes it will walk right up to you
Love is a strange force, for it can be both positive and negative
It can build up as well as destroy, motivate and discourage
To find it can be ones greatest joy, or it can make the heart
dead with sadness
It has been said there is a thin line between love and hate
I would say at times there is no line, no distinction
No matter where this journey called love takes me,
I would that happiness be at the end of the journey
For sorrow is too heavy for my heart
