I Can See The Woman That You Are

Fine beautiful black sister I can see the woman that you are
It is a strong, intelligent Ebony Queen woman
The woman that you are has value, has worth, and ability
In you is the ability to do whatever you set your mind to
You are still developing, still learning yourself, still challenging yourself

God has created you to be dynamic, unique, and beautiful
You are coming into your own; you have the capability to do bold things
If you keep faith in God, there is no limit to the possibilities for you
There is a path set before you, for you to be the woman that you are
There is so much potential in you, so much you can do
Believe in yourself; believe in the abilities that God has given you
All things are possible to those who believe, and accept God’s will
The world is open before you; destiny is set before you
Along the path is a wondrous journey to the woman that you are
I see so much in you, a longing to be happy, a desire to be taken as a real woman
I see that real woman, a woman of passion, a woman of desire
A loving woman, a caring woman, a woman with a future
A wonderful future, one full of promise, and fulfillment

I see the woman that you are, beautiful Ebony Queen
I see a woman that is wonderfully made in the image of God
A strong, proud black woman, full of heritage, full of grace
You are somebody, somebody with a purpose, and you are going somewhere
Hold your head high, keep your faith strong, and be the woman that you are

Fruits of the Spirit

 FRUITS OF THE SPIRIT
LESSON SCRIPTURES: GALATIANS 5:22-26 .

When God saves us he prepares our spirits to receive seeds of him that we might bear fruit. If we be led of his spirit this fruit should be manifested in our life. In the book of Galatians it tells us of this fruit, which is the fruit of the spirit.
The first fruit is love, we know love is a good and important fruit, because the word tells us that God is love ( I John 4:16). So we must be filled with love, not just for church members, our family, and friends but for everyone.

Joy is another fruit that we should have. This fruit is so need because the bible tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. We see that joy helps strengthen our walk with God. God wants his people to be happy and lively, not always down and out. Matthew 5:12 tells us, “Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”
Peace is another fruit of the spirit. God has declared in his word, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusted in thee.” So if we keep our mind focused on God he will give us peace. To have the peace of God we must walk in the spirit. In Romans 8:6 the bible says, “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
The next fruit is long-suffering, or to have patience. The bible tells us to let patience possess your soul (Lk 21:19). The bible also tells us to run with patience the race set before us (Heb 12:1) .

Next is gentleness, God does not want his people to be mean people. He wants us to be gentle, pleasant people.

Another fruit is goodness, simply God want us to be good, kind, to show forth his goodness. To do things that are right not to be deceitful. To be a light, shining forth for Christ. Psalms 107:9 declares, “For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”
Faith is our next fruit, the bible is full of words on faith. This is a very important fruit for the believer. For without faith it is impossible to please him ( Heb 11:6). We can’t overcome without faith in God, we must believe God can do all things but fail. Faith comes by the hearing of God’s word ( Rom 10:17).
Meekness is another fruit of the spirit. Meekness is to be humble, not lifted up in pride and arrogance. We need to have the mind of Christ, the bible tells us he sought not to be great. “But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.” Phil 2:7. So we see that Christ was meek and lowly.
Temperance is the last fruit, to be self-restrained, or hold yourself together. We need the right amount of everything of God to hold ourselves together. We need the right amount of everything of God to hold ourselves together. Steel is heat treated to a certain temperature to make it strong. Christians need to go through the fire of God, that we might become strong in him. Lets keep our lives fertile unto God, that he might bring forth fruit in us.

A Gift To GOD

I thought what I might give to god. The first thought I had was my soul, then I remembered all souls belong to god already.

Then I thought I might offer a gift of praise, then I thought that wasn’t a gift, since he has said let everything that has breath praise ye the lord.

What would be a perfect gift, for the almighty God? Since God already owns everything, including a cattle on a thousand hills.

I though I really couldn’t offer him anything, everything I owned already belonged to him.
I thought so hard; I really would like to give God something.
I would like him to know I truly did love him. But what could I possibly give to God, that would make a good gift?

Then it came to me, like a light out of the sky. It wasn’t what I could give, but what I could receive.

By receiving the gift God had already given, the gift of forgiveness and grace, that of his son Jesus is all God wants.

You see by receiving I am giving a gift to God, my heart!

Are You Really Black and Proud

Would you riot in the streets if a black man, or boy in America were being gunned down. They did in Cincinnati! Would you want the NAACP, to put pressure on the authorities to get to the bottom of it? Would you want them to place pressure on those officials to make the conditions better for blacks. You wouldn’t want have to worry if the police were going to do the right thing. People should have the rights to walk the streets in safety right. Even if they do something wrong , it shouldn’t cost them their life, right? Now this is what we say when it comes to white America, and how they treat us. We didn’t like the lynching of the KKK back in the day. Neither did we like the race riots, that took many black life’s.

Remember the civil rights movements, remember Martin, and Malcolm? Well damn, if we are so concerned, and want our rights so protected, why do we have so much hate for each other. Excuse my language, but it is a personal peeve of mine. After all we have been through; the black on black crime I don’t, and can’t understand. How can one black person take the life, or even steal from another, it makes no sense. We cry, and jump up and down about the prejudice, and injustice that we suffer at the hands of those of the opposite color. Those that have been raised in the ignorance of racism, those that think we are inferior, or dangerous because of the color of our skin. We will stand up to this, we will speak out on this, and we will march in the streets to protest this.

But what do we do when we see the crack dealer on our block, in our neighborhood? What do we do about the brothers that are selling our daughters in the streets, so that can get the drugs that those brothers have got them hooked on. What are we doing about the gang leaders that are recruiting our sons everyday on the playgrounds of America. What are we doing about all this going on in our neighborhood. What are we doing about the number of blacks being killed at the hands of other blacks. This number is higher than the numbers killed by the KKK. How can this be so, how can this be justified! Why, where did the anger come from, where did the hate come from. How did we get to this point, when did we change so? But the biggest questions is when will it stop, when will we do something about it. We need to love our own, help our own, and trust our own.

We have let the enemy divide us, we no longer know or trust one another. The biggest strategy in warfare is to divide and conquer. If a house is divided, according to the good book it can not stand. My brothers and sisters, there is probably more prejudice, and injustice going on among ourselves, than that perpetrated by whites. We have some blacks that don’t life in black neighborhoods any more, and they look down their noses at those black neighborhoods. They think of the people that live in those neighborhoods as streety, ignorant, hoodlums, and the such. They see them as poor, uneducated, druggies, gangsters, etc. They are afraid of these neighborhoods, they distance themselves.

They are unfamiliar with the people, and their way of life. These blacks that have their noses in the air, think they are better, smarter, and worthier. Truth be told, somewhere down the line, someone in white America will let you know you are no better than your brothers that are still in the Hood. The only difference is that you have moved across town.We as a people must come together, we must mend the bridges that have got us separated. We need to address the problems that are present, that are keeping us apart. Rather they are real or imagined, they must be addressed, and extinguished. Love starts at home, and then spreads abroad. Let us love one another, no greater commandment did God leave than this. He said that we should love one another, as he has loved us. How much did he love us, enough to let his son die for us. I am asking you to let you sons, your daughters live.

Let’s make peace with one another, let’s spread love, stop the hate, and stop the killing. I would love to be able to look at the newspaper, or news and not see another black brother or sister that has been shot in a drive by, or gang war. I live in a city with a population that is less the 20% black, but the homicide rate for blacks is probably 70% or more. Most of which is done by another black.  We have got to save ourselves, no one else will. We have to raise up take our neighborhoods back from the crack dealers. Take our kids back from the gangs, we can’t afford to loose this battle. It is raging in our own back yards, it is among ourselves. We can’t dismiss it, or talk it away. It demands action, and if we don’t take action we will perish. After all the hardships we have overcome, it would be tragic to be done it by our own hands. We spoke out, marched, and bled for our freedom before, will we raise up this time? Will we cry out loud, “I’m black and I’m proud!

A Dream Becomes A Nightmare

When I see my black brothers and sisters today, I think about Martin Luther King saying; "I have a dream." His dream

was the same dream that our Lord died for, that man might be
free. For Doctor King said one day we would be able to say
the words of the old negro spiritual; "Free at last, free at
last, thank God almighty I'm free at last."

Well more than twenty years later we have a whole lot of
those freedoms, Martin Luther King lost his life for. We can
vote, live in any neighborhood we can afford, go to white
schools, get good educations and jobs, shop and eat where we
want, and even run for the highest office in the land. I
wonder what he would think about his dream, if he was to walk
down the street of black a neighborhood. I wonder what would
he think as he went past the crack house, as eleven and
twelve year olds watch out for the police, or yell out
"rock".

What would he think as he walkes down the street and
sees black girls, and young women selling their bodies; not
to put food on the table, but to keep their pipes full of
rocks. What would he think about the dream as he saw the
Crips, and Bloods recruiting young boys to fight, and sell
drugs for them. Is this the promise land, God showed him on
the Mountain Top. I think he would probably shake his head
as he walked through the nightmare, his dream had become.

Why has the dream turned to a nightmare? The reason is
sin!! Black people have turned away from serving God, and
turned to serving idols (money, self, and drugs); these have
become God's unto them. I am addressing this to the black
man, because God has given me to cry out to my people, to
turn from their sin, and back to him. Although Martin Luther
King was a great man, and a great leader, he did not set us
free. God is the one that raised Doctor King, up to lead the
black man. It wasn't Abraham Lincoln that freed us from
slavery but it was God. The bible lets us know the heart of
the king is in God's hand, and he can turn it anyway he
pleases. It is God's son, Jesus Christ that can free you
from the worst form of slavery, sin. For the bible declares
in Matt 20:28: "Even as the Son of man came not to be
ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a
ransom for many." Then in St. John 8:36 says: "If the Son
therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
In the 32nd verse of the same book of St. John it says: "And
ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

The bible lets us know that Jesus went to his own
(speaking of the Jews), and they knew him not. In the book
of Matt 23:37-39 Jesus said this to the Jews: "O Jerusalem,
Jerusalem thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them
which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy
children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under
her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto
you desolate. For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me
henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in
the name of the Lord." If we look at the Jews of the bible,
we see that God favored them very much. When they were in
slavery in Egypt, God made Pharaoh let them go. After God
blessed them to come out of slavery, they forgot him. After
they turned from God, they begin to commit all kinds of sin.

Black people have a history very similar to that of the
Jews of the bible. God also delivered us out of slavery, but
we have allowed ourselves to be put in bondage again. This
time we can't blame the white man, but it is our own fault.
Because the bondage we are in is the result of sin. Some
may not really understand what sin is. Sin is the rejection
of God, and his word. It is when we exalt our will, over
God's will for our lives. The bible declares: "Know ye not,
that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his
servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death,
or of obedience unto righteousness" (Rms 6:16). So we can
see if we want to be of God we must yield ourselves
completely to him.

When we sin and disregard God we are being rebellious,
look at what the bible says about this. "hear, O heavens,
and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have
nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled
against me. The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his
master's crib: but Israel (this can be you too if you are
rebelling against God) doth not know, my people doth not
consider. Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a
seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have
forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel
unto anger, they are gone away backward" (Ish 1:2-4). Now
all this may sound very bleak, and very downing, but I want
to wake you up. I would like you to see that the real
problem isn't the white man, but sin. We must realize we can
be, and have anything we set our minds to. But if we really
want to make it, and live above circumstances, we must obey
God. The bible lets us know, it is not profit to gain the
whole world (riches), and lose our souls (going to hell), see
Matt 16:26.

My brothers and sisters lets turn back to the dream,
lets turn back to God, before it is too late. The only way
we as a people will get to the mountain top is with God.
Selling drugs, prostitution, and gangs will only destroy us
as a people. Lets quit worrying about what the white man is
doing, and what he has. God has everything, he has riches
that cannot be counted, then in the end he offers us a
heavenly home. Listen to what the bible tells us in Ish
1:16-19: "Wash you, make you clean: put away the evil of your
doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do
well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the
fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason
together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like
crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and
obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land."

God is standing and has his hands outstretched to you.
The question is will you turn from your way, and accept his
way. Open up your heart today and let him in. Let God make
you all you can be. After you have done all you want to do
in this world you will still be lacking. The only way to be
complete, and see the dream fulfilled is thru Jesus the
savior of the world. We as black people are living in a sick
land. There is drugs, crime, and poverty all around us, but
listen to what God is saying: "If my people, which are called
by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my
face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from
heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land"
(II Chron 7:14). So there is hope, if we wake-up out of our
sleep. If we start to pray again, and turn our hearts back
to God. The same God that delivered us out of slavery, can
once again restore the dream, and give us a glorious vision
for the future+++++++_

SMILING DOWN FROM HEAVEN

Two souls whose time on this earth was cut short because of someone’s carelessness
Two lovely souls, two souls who were full of laughter, joy, and jest for life
Smiling down from heaven Ann and Ashley, smiling down from heaven
Today some will morn, some will cry, all will feel the lose of these beautiful souls
These souls that are smiling down from heaven, smiling down from heaven

Life for these two souls were precious filled with the things they loved to do
A mother who loved to sew, with a hearty laugh, and a big smile
A daughter hard at work at school, working with computers, going from quite to outgoing
A beautiful mother, and a gorgeous daughter both gone too soon
Weeping endureth for a night but joy cometh in the morning
Smiling down from heaven, two souls smiling down from heaven

God grant us understanding, if not understanding allow us to accept things beyond us
All souls belong to God; these two lovely souls are smiling down from heaven
Angels have sung them a song, and all their sorrow has been wiped away
Today we pay them tribute as two who were here for too brief a moment
While we didn’t want them to go, we have assurance they are in the bosom of God
Although your sorrow may be heavy, your heart may grief, your eyes full of tears
See in your mind the window of heaven, see them there smiling down, smiling down

To the Williby Family in your time of sorrow

Waking Up Black In America

Does white America really think things are better for blacks in this country? I wonder how they would handle waking up black in America. What would it be like to walk into a store in your own neighborhood and feel like you were a prisoner of war? As someone with a big gun would follow you, all around the store as you shop. Then when you get into your car to drive back to your home. You see a police follow you, and if you make the wrong kind of eye contact, he pulls you over. The reason being because this neighborhood is a drug neighborhood, and you were looking like you were looking for a drug house. When you apply for a job, your skin color might make you a risk for stealing from the company, or you might not have the right social skills.

If you go to buy a house or a car, they really dig deep. Looking for the slightest reason to deny you. Not because you are black, at least this is what they say. You have too many negative points on your credit report, or you just do not have enough credit at all. However, they can help you if you want to pay a very high interest rate.  All of which will help you build up your credit, even though you will be half-dead by the time you pay for it. You can have the American dream; it will just cost you more. Oh yea speaking of paying more, you will pay more for many things in your own neighborhood food, medicine, and gas will probably cost you more.

But with all that you go through being black, it has made you strong. You have pride knowing that you are, and can make it. No matter how hard they try to make it for you, you keep on, keeping on. You find that anything you set your mind to, you can achieve. America may have dealt you a bad hand, but you find you have learned to play poker very well. Although you did not start with a lot, you are finding a way to win everyday. So, when you wake up in the morning, and you are black - thank God.
